Belfast's Fit Fungi: Unveiling the Cardio Boost with Ballyfungi

In the good old days, more than a thousand years ago, cordyceps mushrooms were as exclusive a dish as a banquet for the Emperor of China and his posh royal family. Imagine this: Cordycep Sinensis, collected on a high-altitude Tibetan plateau at an altitude of 3,000 metres, where mushroom spores played a wild game of hide-and-seek with ghost moth caterpillars. The caterpillar burrows into the soil, the fungus devours it from the inside, and with the arrival of spring, the villages go crazy with the cordyceps harvest!

So, this mushroom was kept secret among the Chinese elite until the 90s, when Chinese Olympians began to break world records in running. Their coach blabbed – the diet with the mysterious mushroom was a secret sauce.

Why the fuss?Cordyceps contain cordycepin and adenosine, which increase the level of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is a kind of VIP pass for oxygen delivery to the muscles. This great mushroom boosts your VO2 max like a turbo for cardio workouts. In addition, it "dances" a little in your lungs, improving the expansion of the bronchioles to achieve maximum efficiency of the cardiovascular system.

And this is not just folklore – research confirms this. In a double-blind placebo experiment in 2017, half of the people were given cordyceps and the rest maltodextrin. Guess who rocked VO2 max? The Cordycep team with an amazing improvement of 4.8 ml of oxygen per kilogram per minute! Untrained athletes usually gain 2-3 ml, and for gym enthusiasts, even 1 ml is a big deal.

But hey, it's not just for the elite – cordyceps are now for ordinary people! There is no need for royal connections or Olympic medals. We do not need to grow them on insects either. To give your cardio the effect it deserves, take 1-3 grams of cordyceps per day. Try  Cordyceps Tea –  5-6  cordyceps in a cup just add boiling water  wait 3-5 minutes and you're done!
